![]() Today I’m going to look at this decades old compilation Sonic Jam to see if it’s worth adding to your collection. This seems to have been a demonstration of good will to their fans, but wasn’t quite what they wanted. Near the end of the Saturn’s life span Sega didn’t really have a Sonic game to release and instead threw together what they had been working on and included it as a hub world for a collection of sorts. Then we had a racing game starring the hedgehog mascot, but that was hardly a worthy replacement for a full blown platforming adventure. At one point a game called Sonic Xtreme was in development, but when it was close to completion the title was inexplicably canceled. ![]() The blue blur was their bread and butter during the Genesis days, and they missed a huge opportunity here. Instead they were focusing on creating new franchises which, while great for us gamers, made them lose their grasp on the market. Sega’s biggest mistake with the Sega Saturn console was that there was no fully 3D Sonic title released for it.
